Theunissen & Zinger Selected to CHA Best of the Rest

Stefan Theunissen (Frederick Freeze) and Boyd Zinger (Virginia Express) were the two goalies named to the CHAs Best of the Rest Team.

The CHA Best of the Rest team will play in the Tier III Junior Nationals this coming weekend in Marlborough, Mass. The team was chosen from the best players from the 10 CHA teams that did not make it to Nationals. They will be playing against teams from the MJHL AND Empire JHL.

 

Dan Sullivan Named Best Goalie in the NAHL

Goalies' World Magazine, a North American hockey publication focused specifically on goaltenders, ranked Tornado goaltender Dan Sullivan as the NAHL's top goalie upon the completion of the league's regular season.

Out of 65 total goalies ranked in the NAHL, Dan Sullivan came in the top spot.

Clemente Leads Brown to ECAC Semi-Final

With a 44 save shut out performance in a 1-0 upset over #1 ranked Yale, Michael Clemente continues to be a force in the playoffs.  Last year he shut out heavily favored Harvard in two straight games to become the only goalie to ever accomplish the feat!  More

 

Carmack Leads UMBC to #4 National Ranking

Senior PJ Carmack lead the UMBC Retrievers to the ACHA National #4 ranking!

Carmack ended the regular season with a 10-3 record and a 2.93 GAA.

Congrats PJ on a great season and career at UMBC! More

Tyler Lefebvre, Jimmy Rosen, and David Altman Lead Ashburn Xtreme Teams to Nationals

Jimmy Rosen and Tyler Lefebvre's Xtreme U16 AA 1 team won the CBHL playoffs & will play in the Nationals in West Chester, PA April 7-11.

David Altman's Xtreme U12 AA team will also compete in the Nationals at Reston, PA the same week.  Best of luck!

Herrman, Lalor, & Raiders Pee Wee AA are CBHL Champions...

Next Stop Nationals

Andrew Herrman and Jack Lalor backstopped the Reston Raider Pee Wee AA team to the CBHL Playoff Championship! 

Herrman defeated Ashburn in a Shootout in the Semis, while Lalor finished the job with a 7-4 win over Richmond in the finals.

The Raiders are hosting the Pee Wee Nationals April 7-11.

Dan Sullivan Works Out with NHL Stars

With the NHL taking a break for the Winter Olympics, the Dallas Stars have a lot of time for practicing, and Tornado goaltender Dan Sullivan took part in Wednesday's practice.

The practice marks the third time Sullivan has gotten the chance to stop the shots of the Dallas Stars players. His previous chances came when the team joined the Stars' training camp in September and a Stars practice in October.

 

Tyler Lefebvre Named NVSHL First Team All-Star

Tyler Lefebvre of Briar Woods High School was named a NVSHL first team all-star.

Lefebvre is also a standout goalie for the Ashburn Xtreme U16AA that is undefeated in the CBHL and look toward SE District Playoffs and hopefully Nationals.

Kris Mayotte called up to AHL Phantoms

Kris Mayotte returned to the AHL this week with the Philadelphia Flyers' affiliate the Adirondack Phantoms.

Mayo will help the ailing Flyers' system indefinitely.

Last season, Mayo was in the AHL with Hershey, Bridgeport, and Syracuse.  He also saw action with Lowell, Albany, Erie, and Binghampton in the past.

Tyler Lefebvre & Jimmy Rosen Lead Ashburn Xtreme U16 AA Team Takes CBHL Playoff Championship

Jimmy Rosen and Tyler Lefebvre's Xtreme U16 AA 1 team outlasted the field in the CBHL playoffs by defeating Montgomery and Navy, while only allowing 1 goal in each game.  The team only allowed a total of 14 goals during the regular season.  The team is headed to Nationals!  Best of luck!

 

  

Flocken, Hershey Take Quebec Pee Wee Tourney

For the second straight year, The Hershey Jr. Bears took the Quebec Pee Wee Tourney Championship in the Classe B Internationale Division!

It was Hershey's 50th year at the Quebec Tourney and they celebrated their Golden Anniversary in style!

Alex Flocken was one of the team's goalies for the seconde straight year as well.

Flocken &Hershey Pee Wee Majors Go To District Finals

The Hershey Jr Bears PeeWee Majors advanced to the district finals next week versus the New Jersey Rockets.  The Jr Bears will play in a best of three game series for a trip to the Nationals!  Best of luck to Alex and to the rest of the team!

HERSH TO COACH 2002 WASHINGTON ALL-STARS

Darren Hersh assisted by Troy Spittle and Luke DeLorenzo will be coaching the 2002 Washington All-Stars AAA Spring Tournament team.

We are very much looking forward to the development of the areas youngest hockey talent!

 

AJ Coleman and Squirt AA Ashburn Xtreme win the CBHL Playoff

AJ Coleman's Ashburn Xtreme team won the CBHL National Division Squirt Playoffs defeating Richmond 5-3 and Montgomery 5-4.

Clemente Garners National Recognition

Clemente stopped 42 of 43 shots on the night, his third straight win over the Crimson on Harvard's home ice.

Clemente's spectacular string continued through the weekend, with 36 saves in a 3-1 win over Princeton and 22 saves in a 2-1 win over first-place Quinnipiac. Clemente stopped 100 of 103 shots.

Governor's Rule


Belmont, Mass. -- Governor's Academy beat Belmont Hill school 3-2 on BH's home ice for the first time in 12 years behind the string goaltending of Luc Montoni!

"In the final couple of minutes, Belmont Hill regrouped and peppered Montoni, but couldn't solve him.

Derek Guzik Wins Skills Shootout in Lake Placid

Derek Guzik of the Reston Raiders outlasted the field of goalies in the CHE torunament in Lake Placid, NY to take first place!

Great job, Derek! Congratulations!

   

Chiefs Use All Pennsylvania Goalies this Season

In what will be the last season for the Johnstown Chiefs in the ECHL, interestingly the team's goaltending staff has been comprised of all Pennsylvanians!

The team began the season with Kris Mayotte of Pittsburgh and Shane Connelly of Philladelphia. In emergency situations, the team turned to Johnstown native Brent "Mugsy" Troyan.  Lancaster raised John Murray was assigned to the team by Manitoba of the AHL and Goalie Coach, Darren Hersh, was also born in Lancaster, PA

 

Tyler Nichols Receives Landon Coach's Award

At the Landon School's year end banquet, Tyler Nichols received the Coach's Award for Spirit, Dedication, Hard Work, and a Great Attitude!

Jake Widmer, Wyoming Seminary (PA)

Jake is the starting goalie on the Wyoming Seminary's Varsity squad

Jake has a 6-0 record including a tourney championship at Shady Side Academy, which ended in a 7 round shootout!

Theo Sevransky Backstops  Blue Devils to Silver Stick Title

Theo Sevransky's Montgomery Squirt AA team won the Silver Stick Regional Title to earn a trip to Sarnia, Ontario, Canada for the International finals!

Dan Sullivan Strong with Texas Tornado

Dan Sullivan is 11-11-1 in 23 starts with the NAHL Texas Tornado.

Sully is also sporting a 2.85 GAA and a .917 save % as the team's starting goaltender!

Darren Hersh

has been named Goalie Coach/Goalie Consultant for the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL.

Coach Hersh will assist Chiefs Head Coach Jeff Flanagan and Assistant Coach Jason Spence with team preparation as it relates to the goalies.

 

Jay Williams Selected to Represent The United States at the Five Nations Tourney! Drafted to OHL and USHL!

Jay Williams won both starts for the 2009 U.S. Under-17 Select Team that finished third at the 2009 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament from Aug. 18-22, in Fussen, Germany.

Jay was selected by the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL in the first round of the 2009 futures draft.  Williams was the 3rd overall pick and the second goalie selection!  Complete List

Williams was also drafted by the Saginaw Spirit in the 4th round of the 2009 OHL Entry Draft!

Kris Mayotte

Has received an invitation to attend this season's training camp of the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

Chicago is the AHL affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers on the NHL.

Kris is under contract with ECHL Johnstown Chiefs.

Dan Sullivan Traded to Texas Tornado of NAHL

Texas Tornado Acquire #1 Goalie

Dan Sullivan spent last year with the Marquette Rangers where he compiled a .905 SV% and a 2.61 GAA after being aquired from the Omaha Lancers of the USHL.

Jones Receives Goalie of the Week Honors

2009-09-26

Arlington, Va. -- Tanner Jones was selected as MJHL Goalie of the week for the week ending September 25.  Jones stopped 62 of the 66 shots he faced in the Jr. Capitals 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.

Along with the Championship win, Aidan was named MVP of the Mite Division of the AA Philadelphia Tourney!  Aidan played all five games for the Ashburn PowerPlay Selects.
